Centre removes Dhruv Rathee’s video among 45 posts on YouTube, details inside
Dhruv Rathee’s YouTube video blocked: In a major development, the Union Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has directed YouTube to block 45 videos from 10 channels that also include Dhruv Rathee’s video. The videos have been blocked for alleged disinformation related to India’s sovereignty, security, global relations, and public order.
As per the I&B ministry, the videos had more than 1.3 crore viewers. While addressing the media, I&B minister Anurag Thakur said that the government would continue to act against those trying to upload such content in the future.

The YouTube videos that were blocked included one by YouTuber Dhruv Rathee which was titled “Why Imran Khan lost? Political crisis in Pakistan”. The ministry stated that the video showed parts of Indian territory in Pakistan which is why it has been removed.

It further said that the videos may have caused communal disharmony and disrupted public order. Besides, a few videos were “false claims” such as the government taking away the religious rights of some communities and a declaration of “civil war”, it added.

As per the ministry, the orders have been issued on the basis of intelligence inputs and under provisions of the new IT rules.
It may be recalled that the government had recently blocked 78 news channels and 560 URLs on YouTube.
