Assam Floods: Dhubri Gurudwara Opens Doors For Victims, Provides Free Food & Shelter

The Sikh community in Assam is setting a great example of humanity. The Dhubri Gurudwara in Assam has opened its doors for the flood affected people. Dhubri town has witnessed the worst flood situation after 1988 with almost all the houses of the town reeling under water.

The Dhubri Gurudwara has been providing free food and shelter to the flood victims. According to a report published in Northeast Now, nearly one thousand flood victims including top government officials with their family members have so far taken shelter in the Gurudwara of Dhubri.

“We are providing free food to each and every person who has taken shelter in the gurudwara round the clock. Apart from that the Guru Ka Langar has been opened for all flood affected people who have taken shelter in different schools and high lands,” Gurbinder Singh, manager of Dhubri Gurudwara, told Northeast Now.

Earlier, actor Akshay Kumar won many hearts with his humane gesture after he donated Rs 2 crore for the flood affected Assam. The actor took to his Twitter handle to urge everyone to do their bit to help all affected in the Assam floods.

He wrote, “Absolutely heartbreaking to know about the devastation by floods in Assam. I’d like to donate 1cr each to the CM Relief Fund & for Kaziranga Park rescue. Appealing to all to contribute.”

Reportedly, 15 people have been killed in the floods and landslides, over 46 lakh have been affected in the state.
