The death case of Disha Salian, former manager of late actor Sushant Singh Rajput, has taken a fresh turn after the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) registered an FIR to investigate the circumstances surrounding her death. The development comes days after the Bombay High Court directed the agency to conduct a detailed investigation into the case.

The CBI FIR mentions several individuals whose roles require investigation, including Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Aaditya Thackeray and Bollywood actors Dino Morea, Sooraj Pancholi and Rhea Chakraborty. However, the agency has clarified that being mentioned in the FIR does not mean that any of these individuals have been declared accused or found guilty.

Disha Salian Died in June 2020

Disha Salian, who was 28 years old, died on June 8, 2020, after falling from a high-rise residential building in Mumbai's Malad area. Her death was initially treated as a suicide following a police investigation and was recorded through an Accidental Death Report (ADR).

Her death received widespread attention because it happened just six days before the death of Sushant Singh Rajput, who was found dead at his Bandra residence on June 14, 2020.

Salian's family later raised questions about the circumstances surrounding her death and claimed that she had not died by suicide. Her father, Satish Salian, subsequently approached the Bombay High Court seeking a CBI investigation into the case.

Bombay High Court Directed a Fresh Investigation

The Bombay High Court recently directed the CBI to investigate the circumstances surrounding Disha Salian's death. The court raised questions about aspects of the earlier investigation and the continued reliance on the Accidental Death Report.

The court also took note of the Salian family's concerns regarding the post-mortem report and other documents connected with the case. According to the allegations raised before the court, the family had not received copies of certain important records even years after Disha's death.

The court's direction led to the CBI registering an FIR and beginning a fresh investigation into the case.

Aaditya Thackeray, Rhea Chakraborty and Others Mentioned

The CBI FIR lists several people whose roles are to be examined as part of the investigation. The names mentioned include Aaditya Thackeray, Rohan Roy, Dino Morea, Sooraj Pancholi, Rhea Chakraborty and Showik Chakraborty.

The FIR also mentions Aaditya Thackeray's bodyguards, former Mumbai Police officials Sachin Vaze and Param Bir Singh, DCP Vishal Thakur and several other police officers. Doctors and staff associated with the delayed post-mortem process have also been mentioned.

The agency is expected to examine whether there was any conspiracy, suppression or destruction of evidence, fabrication of official records or other wrongdoing connected with the case.

Being Named Does Not Mean Being Accused

An important clarification in the latest development is that none of the individuals mentioned in the FIR should automatically be considered an accused. The Bombay High Court had directed that a person should not be treated as an accused unless the investigating officer finds sufficient material to create reasonable suspicion against that person.

Therefore, the names of Aaditya Thackeray, Rhea Chakraborty, Dino Morea, Sooraj Pancholi and others being mentioned in the FIR means their possible roles will be examined during the investigation. It does not establish their involvement in any crime.

Connection With Sushant Singh Rajput Case

The Disha Salian case has remained closely linked in public discussions with the death of Sushant Singh Rajput. Rajput died six days after Salian's death, leading to several theories and allegations over the years.

The CBI had separately investigated Rajput's death and questioned several people, including Rhea Chakraborty, who was Rajput's girlfriend at the time. The agency later filed a closure report in that case and did not establish criminal charges against her.

The CBI investigation will now focus on determining what happened before and after Disha Salian's death. The agency is expected to examine available evidence, police records, forensic material, official documents and statements from people connected with the case.

The investigation will also look into the allegations made by Disha's family and the questions raised about the earlier police inquiry. After more than 6 years, the registration of the CBI FIR marks a significant new development in the Disha Salian death case. However, the investigation is still at an early stage, and any conclusion about criminal responsibility will depend on the evidence collected by the CBI.
