Salman Khan summoned by Chandigarh Court in Being Human jewellery cheating case
Salman Khan has been summoned by a Chandigarh court in the Being Human jewellery case after a businessman alleged he lost nearly Rs 3 crore following his investment in the showroom.
A Chandigarh district court has issued summons to Bollywood actor Salman Khan, his sister Alvira Khan Agnihotri, and the directors of Style and Content Jewellery Pvt Ltd in a cheating complaint related to a Being Human jewellery showroom in Manimajra, Chandigarh. The court has asked all the accused to appear on October 5 and submit their replies to the allegations.
Salman Khan SummonedThe complaint was filed by Chandigarh-based businessman Arun Gupta. He claimed that he invested around Rs 3 crore to open a Being Human jewellery showroom after receiving assurances that the business would perform well.
According to Gupta, nearly Rs 1 crore was spent on developing the showroom. He also said he fulfilled all the conditions mentioned in the agreement signed with Style and Content Jewellery Pvt Ltd, the company licensed to market Being Human jewellery.
Allegations of Financial LossGupta alleged that after the showroom started operations, the promised business support was not provided. He also claimed that the supply of jewellery was disrupted, causing heavy financial losses.
The complaint further stated that the store responsible for supplying Being Human jewellery remained closed from February 2020, which affected inventory and sales. Gupta has alleged that he suffered losses worth several crores because of these issues.
Inauguration ClaimThe businessman also claimed that Salman Khan was expected to inaugurate the showroom. However, actor Aayush Sharma attended the event instead, which he said added to his disappointment over the commitments made during the business deal.
Earlier, the licence holder for the Being Human jewellery business denied the allegations. The company stated that Salman Khan and Alvira Khan Agnihotri were not parties to the franchise agreement signed in 2018.
It also clarified that the Salman Khan Foundation had only licensed the Being Human brand to Style and Content Jewellery Pvt Ltd, while the company's management was responsible for operating, marketing and selling the jewellery.
The court summons has brought the legal dispute back into focus. The matter is now scheduled for hearing on October 5, when the accused are expected to appear before the court and respond to the allegations. The case will proceed based on the submissions made during the upcoming hearings.
