'Gangsta's Paradise' rapper Coolio dies at 59; fans extend condolences

Rapper Coolio death cause news:  In a shocking development, the US rapper Coolio, who was prominently known for his 1995 song 'Gangsta's Paradise', died at the age of 59.

The news of rapper Coolio's death was confirmed by his manager who informed that the rapper died on Wednesday afternoon at a friend's residence in Los Angeles.

"He added that the rapper had gone to use the bathroom and didn't come out. Therefore, the cause of Coolio's death remains to be ascertained.

Who was rapper Coolio?

Coolio rose to fame in the mid-1990s with three albums, 'It Takes a Thief' (1994), 'Gangsta's Paradise' (1995) and 'My Soul' (1997). Notably, he also won Grammy Award for 'Gangsta's Paradise'.

He had also composed the song for the 1996-2000 Nickelodeon sitcom 'Kenan & Kel', which featured Kenan Thompson and Kel Mitchell. He even lent his voice to the character 'Kwanzaa-bot' on 'Futurama'.

Likewise, he did several movies like 'Dear God' (1996), 'Batman & Robin' (1997), 'Submerged' (2000) and 'Stealing Candy' (2003).

He was born in Monessen, Pennsylvania south of Pittsburgh and later moved to California where he did his community college. He then worked as a volunteer firefighter and in airport security.

It was then that he devoted himself to the hip-hop scene.
