The Sikh community is well—known for their countless initiatives for the well-being of the people around them. The community has done many gestures to help thousands of people across the world, irrespective of their class or creed. Meanwhile, the Sikh community of Mumbai has taken another initiative for the city people.

The Gurudwaras of Mumbai have planned to create dormitories in various Gurudwaras across the city to provide beds and meals to cancer patients in the city. The Gurudwaras will offer this to cancer patients or their relatives, who have come to the city for the treatment.

The initiative is taken to celebrate Guru Nanak Dev Ji’s 550th birth anniversary this year. The community intends to accommodate 550 beds in order to commemorate the 550th Prakash Purab of Guru Nanak Dev Ji.

They started this in 2018 with 400 beds, and will finish it this year. The Gurudwaras aim to provide them four healthy meals as well everyday for the days they stay.
