Gurudwara Sahib Pulapol in Kuala Lumpur has been preparing upto 2500 packs of vegetarian meals everyday to help the people in need and serve them on a regular basis to fill their stomachs.

Gurdwara president Asst. Comm. Ravinder Singh said the volunteers preparing the food include policemen, retired cops as well as their family members.

“Every day, volunteers would gather at the gurdwara to cut and clean the vegetables, cook, pack and send the food. We serve only vegetarian food such as rice, dhal, vegetables and a sweet dish,” Ravinder Singh said.

“Every day, we change the menu,” he further added.

For the safety purpose, the whole gurdwara has been sanitised and inspected by health officers from Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL).

Reportedly, the amount of food they prepare depends on the request by the social welfare department. If there are more non – governmental organizations preparing food, then the gurudwara will cook less food.

“Besides cooked food, we also donate dry rations,” said ACP Ravinder.

Meanwhile, the effort is supported by the Malaysian Gurdwaras Council and the gurudwara is seeking donations to buy infant food powders to help families.
