Guru Randhawa is one of the most versatile artists of the Punjabi music industry. He is a songwriter, singer, music composer, and he recently turned producer for an upcoming Punjabi film. The singer is celebrating his 28th birthday today, on August 30.

Guru is known for crooning songs like ‘Lahore’, ‘Patola’, ‘High Rated Gabru’, ‘Suit’, among others. Here are some lesser known facts about the singer to know on his birthday!

Guru was born as Gursharanjot Singh Randhawa in Gurdaspur district of Punjab on August 30, 1991.

He started his singing career by singing for some small shows in Gurdaspur, and then started singing for parties and functions in Delhi.

While Guru stayed in Delhi to build a career in singing, he completed his MBA.

He was named ‘Guru’ by rapper Bohemia to shorten his name on stage.

He made history as his song ‘Lahore’ fetched over 700 million views on YouTube and became one of the most viewed Punjabi songs on YouTube in India.

Guru then, made history by collaborating for a song named ‘Slowly Slowly’ with American rapper Pitbull, and making it one of the world's all-time most-viewed music videos in 24 hours by fetching over 38 million views in less than 24 hours.
