Bangla Sahib Gurudwara is one of the most prominent Gurudwaras in Delhi. The sacred shrine is associated with the eighth sikh guru, Guru Har Krishan. The Gurudwara was built by Sikh General, Sardar Bhagel Singh in 1783.
The holy shrine got its name 'Bangla Sahib' after the place was the bunglow of Mirza Raja Jai Singh. It was originally named Jaisinghpura Palace.
Guru Har Krishan used to reside in the palace on his stay in Delhi. In 1964 when Cholera and Smallpox were at the verge, the eighth Guru decided to help the deprived. He aided the ill with the holy water from his home, which is now the 'Sarovar' in the Gurudwara.
