La Trobe University To Honour Shah Rukh Khan With Honorary Doctorate

Bollywood’s superstar Shah Rukh Khan is set to receive an honorary doctorate from Melbourne based La Trobe University for his great achievements. The King Khan will be awarded at the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne, in recognition of his efforts towards underprivileged children, women empowerment through MEER Foundation, and his contribution to the entertainment industry.

“I’m proud to be conferred with a great University like La Trobe which has a long-standing relationship with Indian culture and impressive track record in advocating for women’s equality,” said Shah Rukh Khan in a statement.

Shah Rukh will be the chief guest at the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne to attend the special screening of his 1995 hit film ‘Kuch Kuch Hota Hai’ with Karan Johar.

“I feel truly privileged to receive this Honorary Doctorate and I would like to sincerely thank La Trobe for choosing to recognise my achievements in such a humbling way,” he added.

Meanwhile, La Trobe is the first Australian University to award Khan with an Honorary Doctorate letter. The University will present it on August 9 at its campus.

On the workfront, Shah Rukh has provided his vocals for the upcoming Disney film 'The Lion King'.
