Legendary Punjabi Writer Jaswant Singh Kanwal Celebrating His 101st Birthday Today

Living legend and noted Punjabi writer Jaswant Singh Kanwal is celebrating his 101st birthday on June 27. Kanwal was born on June 27 in 1919 at village Dhudike in Moga district. He has penned over 100 books including 35 novels and is considered as one of the most popular writers in Punjab.

‘Lahu Di Lau’, ‘Raat Baaki Hai’, ‘Sach Nu Phansi’, ‘Mukti Maarag’, ‘Haani, Pali’ and ‘Puranmaashi’ are some his prominent books.

To mark Jaswant Singh Kanwa’s 101st birthday, many prominent literary figures of Punjab have joined hands together to organize a five-day literary festival ‘Puranmashi Punjabi jor mela’ from June 26 to 30 at his birthplace.

During the five-day festival, a host of seminars, talk shows recitations and one-act plays would be held.
