ReNew and Kathak Guru Shovana Narayan bring climate change conversation to the stage

ReNew, one of India’s leading clean energy and decarbonisation companies, has partnered with renowned Kathak exponent Guru Dr. Shovana Narayan to bring the conversation around climate change and environmental responsibility to the world of art and culture.

The collaboration presented Fractured Harmonies: A Call for Renewal at New Delhi’s Kamani Auditorium on September 10. The performance brought together classical dance, music and visual storytelling to explore the changing relationship between humans and nature. Stefan Priesner, UN Resident Coordinator in India, attended the event as the Chief Guest.

Exploring Environmental Challenges Through Dance

Conceived by Guru Dr. Shovana Narayan and her Asavari Repertory, Fractured Harmonies focused on several environmental challenges affecting the planet.

The four-part production explored the damage caused by polluted rivers and seas, deforestation and its impact on communities, humanity’s growing presence in space, and the increasing problem of space debris.

Rather than only highlighting the damage being caused to the environment, the performance also focused on the possibility of change. The final act, titled “Restoring Nature’s Harmony,” encouraged audiences to think about their own role in protecting the planet and creating a more balanced future.

Making Clean Energy Everyone’s Responsibility

The collaboration is part of ReNew’s Clean Energy Humse Hai campaign, which aims to make the clean energy transition more personal and relatable.

The campaign focuses on the idea that moving towards clean energy is not only the responsibility of governments, companies or policymakers. Individuals and communities also have an important role to play. By bringing the message into the world of art, ReNew hopes to encourage people to connect with environmental issues on a more personal level.

Art as a Tool for Change

Speaking about the collaboration, Vaishali Nigam Sinha, Co-founder of ReNew, said that the transition towards a cleaner future is a shared responsibility. She highlighted how art can encourage people to stop, think and emotionally connect with important issues.

Guru Dr. Shovana Narayan said the subject of Fractured Harmonies is close to her heart. Through Kathak, the production aims to show both the environmental damage taking place and humanity’s ability to restore balance.
