The nation is celebrating doctor’s day today on July 1, like every year to honour the contribution of the doctors. The first National Doctor's day was celebrated in July 1991.

This day, people thank doctors for their selfless service and pay their tribute to them.

The National Doctor's Day is celebrated in the memory of Dr. Bidhan Chandra Roy, a former Chief Minister of West Bengal and a well-known physician. He was born on July 1, 1882, and died on the same date in 1962, aged 80 years.
