Now, 'Boycott Alia Bhatt' trends on Twitter; 'Darlings' producer accused of promoting domestic violence against men

While some netizens are calling for a boycott of Aamir Khan's 'Laal Singh Chaddha' and Akshay Kumar's 'Raksha Bandhan', several people have now called for a boycott of Alia Bhatt as they have accused the 'Darlings' producer of promoting domestic violence against men.

Yes, it seems a pity but this is what's happening on social media. Alia Bhatt, who is going to become a mother soon, is busy promoting her upcoming movie 'Darlings', which is apparently her OTT debut. Besides, she has also donned the hat of a producer for the first time.

Apart from Alia Bhatt, the film features Shefali Shah, Vijay Varma, and Roshan Mathew in pivotal roles.

However, some people are calling for a boycott of Alia Bhatt using the hashtag #BoycottAliaBhatt began on Twitter which is, in fact, trending on the microblogging site.

These days, it has become very common for internet users to disagree with celebrities' views on particular issues. Thousands of people tweet about 'issues' with Bollywood movies. However, the boycott trend against Alia Bhatt is a bit different.

After watching the 'Darlings' trailer, a section of netizens were of the view that the film is supporting domestic violence against men. Vijay is playing 'Hamza Shaikh' in 'Darlings', the husband of 'Badru' (Alia Bhatt). The film shows that Hamza beats her to an extent when she decided to go for the exact revenge by kidnapping and torturing him in the home.

Unfortunately, the call for a boycott comes a day before the film's release on OTT. Yes, you read that right. The film is going to stream on Netflix from August 5 onwards.
