Shoojit Sircar took to his social media handle to announce that the post – production of the film will begin on June 8. Describing it as a “second coming”, the director stated that he couldn’t wait to reboot.

Shoojit pointed out that the message was as much a morale booster for himself and his team as it was for Bollywood, which has ground to a halt since an industrywide shutdown was implemented on March 19. He outlined a four-phase plan, starting with editing, which will continue for the next 15-20 days.

“Only the editor and his assistant will be allowed inside the editing room, working while strictly adhering to social distancing protocols, and they will strike off work before the daily 7 pm curfew,” the filmmaker informed.

He is grateful that apart from phone conversations, text messages and video calls, the film industry has developed an app that allows them to share edited content, frame by frame, with explanatory comments, back and forth, online.

The film was announced as a January 15, 2021 release. Shoojit admits that he has spoken with his teams, and the general consensus is that with three months lost to lockdown, keeping the date looks difficult at the moment. “Please don’t push us, this kind of work cannot be hurried,” they entreated. And given that this is his most ambitious film yet, the director is prepared to wait.
