Punjab Based Bakery Immersed 65 KG Chocolate Ganesha In Milk, Distributes MilkShake Amongst Slum Children

As festival season is upon us, we are celebrating it with a lot of enthusiasm. Last week, we brought you stories of some celebrities who have welcomed Lord Ganesha in their hearts and homes. Today, we have a story of a bakery in Punjab which has come up with a unique idea for celebrating ‘Ganesha Chaturthi’ this year.

It raises a lot of concern every year over the immersion of Ganesha idols which adds up to immense water pollution. However, the Punjab-based restaurant has provided with a unique solution to this issue by making a 65 kg chocolate Ganpati idol in Ludhiana. It was pure Belgium chocolate idol, which was immersed in milk on the occassion of ‘Ganpati Visarjan’ and the chocolate milkshake, ultimately served to 500 underprivileged children in nearby slums.

The idea was to inspire people to celebrate ‘Ganesh Chaturthi’ in an eco-friendly way. Ludhiana’s café where the idol was installed specializes in Belgium chocolates. Harjinder Singh Kukreja, who is the co-owner of this café, took it to his social media handle recently to share the picture of children with the glass of milk shake in their hands.

Speaking to a well-known news website, Kukreja said, “There is nothing Hindu or Sikh about this festival. We all love Ganpati Bappa. He is the God of good beginnings and brings good luck. More than communal harmony, the idea is to give a message of eco-friendly celebrations. We will be immersing idol in milk and after symbolic visarjan, chocolate milkshake will be distributed among underprivileged children.”
