Russia-Ukraine war: Actor Sonu Sood requests Indian Embassy to find alternate way to bring students home from Ukraine

Sonu Sood has asked the Indian Embassy on Thursday (February 24) to find an alternative way to securely bring Indian students back from Ukraine.

Sonu Sood tweeted about the ongoing Russia-Ukraine crisis, "I urge Indian Embassy to find an alternate route for their evacuation. Praying for their safety. #IndiansInUkraine."

Earlier in the day several other celebrities including Richa Chadha, Javed Akhtar also shared their views amid the Russia-Ukraine crisis.

Ukraine International Airlines (UIA) arrived in Delhi around 7:45 a.m. on Thursday, carrying 182 Indian citizens, the majority of whom were students. Several airlines, including Air India, are conducting special flights to return Indian nationals safely in the midst of the continuing crisis in Ukraine.

According to senior government sources, Air India plans to fly two aircraft to Bucharest, Romania's capital, on Friday to rescue Indians stranded in Ukraine as a result of Russia's military onslaught. Officials from the Indian government would transport Indian nationals who have crossed the Ukraine-Romania border by road to Bucharest, where they will be evacuated aboard two Air India planes, they said. Officials confirmed that two Air India flights will leave Bucharest on Saturday.

According to sources, the Ministry of External Affairs is now holding high-level discussions as the situation along the Ukrainian border escalates following Russia's military activities in the Donbas region.
