Veteran Actress Nimmi Dies At 88 Due To Heart Attack, Bollywood Mourns Her Death

Yesteryear’s actress Nawab Banoo, better known by her stage name, Nimmi breathed her last on March 25, 2020. Reportedly, the actress passed away due to heart attack. The 87-year-old actress was admitted to a Juhu hospital after her complaint of breathlessness.

Nimmi, marked her Bollywood debut with Raj Kapoor’s ‘Barsaat’ in 1949 and she rose to stardom with this.

Going by the reports, she had been unwell for quite some time and had been in and out of hospital a lot this year.

Bollywood celebrities like Rishi Kapoor, Mahesh Bhatt, and Jaaved Jaaferi among many others paid their tribute to the versatile actress.

Rishi Kapoor remembered the veteran actress in a social media post, revealing how she had showered blessing on his film ‘Bobby’. “RIP. Thank you Nimmi aunty for all the blessings and love for Bobby on its premiere release. You were part of the RK family. Barsaat was your first film. Allha aapko Jannat naseeb kare. Ameen.”

Mahesh Bhatt also remembered the yesteryear star and wrote, “You may win your hearts desire, but in the end you are cheated of it by death.” Goodbye Nimmiji.”

She featured in a range of genres, from romance, to social dramas and fantasy.

One of her last screen appearance was in Love and God. Apart from Kapoor, she acted with top yesteryear stars such as Dilip Kumar, Dev Anand.

She was married to screenwriter and director S Ali Raza, who passed away in 2007.
