Cricket, as we all know is not just seen as a sport but rather a religion in India and when it comes to cricketers, well, they enjoy as much a star status as any famous Bollywood celebrity. But owing to their fame, there are times when these star cricketers have to invent crazy means to venture out in general public.

One such funny yet interesting anecdote was recently shared by Sourav Ganguly aka Dada in his autobiography  ‘A Century Is Not Enough’. Revealing the incident, Sourav Ganguly said that he once had to disguise himself as a turban wearing Sardar as he wanted to attend Durga Puja with his wife in Kolkata. His wife, Dona, arranged a makeup artists to give Sourav the right Sardar look and apparently (as seen in picture), the make-up artist did a great job.

Ganguly described the incident saying, “I decided to go as one of Harbhajan’s tribe. Yes, disguised as a Sardarji. Now I could have been mobbed big time. The situation could have gone out of control. But the thrill of accompanying the para boys and family members on the truck carrying the deity was just too irresistible”.

Hailed for his nickname, ‘God of the Off Side’, Sourav went on to reveal that his cousins mocked him saying that he would be recognized and they turned out to be right as the cricketer was was not allowed on the truck by the police and had to follow it in his car.
