While Assam is facing the wrath out of the floods, the 'Lal Singh Chaddha' actor Aamir Khan has come up and contributed Rs 25 lakh towards the relief work in Assam.
Lakhs of people have been affected by floods in Assam. Meanwhile, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma thanked the 'Lal Singh Chaddha' actor for such a gentle gesture.
CM Himanta Biswa Sarma took to Twitter and thanked Aamir Khan. He tweeted: "Eminent Bollywood actor Amir Khan extended a helping hand to the flood-affected people of our State by making a generous contribution of Rs 25 lakh towards CM Relief Fund. My sincere gratitude for his concern and act of generosity."
Likewise, Aamir Khan's fans also lauded him. One of the users wrote: "Thank you Aamir for the help," while another one commented. "Wow.. that's why he is the best."
As per the Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA), as many as 117 people have died so far in the flood and landslides in the state out of which 100 people died in flood alone. The remaining 17 died due to landslides.
Reportedly, 8.76 lakh people have been affected in the Barpeta district alone only, followed by 5.08 lakh people in Nagaon, 4.01 lakh in Kamrup, 2.76 lakh people in Cachar, 2.16 in Karimganj, 1.84 lakh in Dhubri, and 1.70 lakh people in the Darrang district of Assam.
Stepping for the relief work, the Indian Airforce has also deployed seven types of fixed and rotary-wing aircraft, informed the officials on Sunday.
