Anil Kapoor says 'Alpha', starring Alia Bhatt and Sharvari, redefines heroism beyond gender in Bollywood

Veteran actor Anil Kapoor is excited about his upcoming film Alpha, which is bringing a fresh and bold idea to Bollywood. Known for playing powerful and fearless characters throughout his successful career, Anil is happy to see an action film where two women, Alia Bhatt and Sharvari, take the lead.

Anil Kapoor about Alpha

Interestingly, Anil Kapoor's role in Alpha has been kept a complete secret to avoid revealing important parts of the story. While fans are eager to know more about his character, the actor is focusing on what makes this film special.

Talking about the changing face of cinema, Anil Kapoor said, “For the longest time, we've looked at cinema through labels - male lead, female lead, hero, heroine. But audiences have evolved, and so has storytelling. What excites me about Alpha is that it challenges those old definitions.”

He further added, “Being an Alpha has never been about gender. It's about presence, conviction, courage, and the ability to drive a story forward. That's what audiences connect with today - main character energy, not categories.”

Anil believes that movie lovers are always looking for something new and exciting on the big screen. He is confident that Alpha will give audiences a thrilling experience with two women leading a large-scale action entertainer.

Speaking about the film from a personal point of view, Anil said, “As a father, I've had the privilege of watching both my daughters champion stories and films that push boundaries and challenge conventions. They've always believed in expanding what's possible for women on screen and I know they're rooting for Alpha because films like this have the power to open up an entirely new chapter for action cinema.”

The actor also shared his hopes for the future of Indian cinema. He said, “I hope Alpha marks a larger shift in how we think about leadership and heroism on screen. Instead of asking whether a character is a male lead or a female lead, perhaps it's time we simply ask: who is the Alpha? For Indian cinema, that's a powerful and necessary reimagining, and I'm proud to be part of a film that embraces it.”

Ending on a powerful note, Anil said, “The future of cinema isn't about changing who gets to lead. It's about stopping the need to qualify leadership by gender in the first place.”

Produced by Aditya Chopra and directed by Shiv Rawail, Alpha also stars Bobby Deol as the antagonist. The film is all set to release in cinemas worldwide on July 3.
