Govinda reacts to Diljit Dosanjh's praise, says he always knew he'd become a World star

Veteran Bollywood actor Govinda has expressed his gratitude towards Punjabi singer-actor Diljit Dosanjh after the latter praised his contribution to Indian cinema and called him a “legendary artiste.” The warm exchange between the two actors has caught attention as Govinda also recalled his first meeting with Diljit and shared that he had once predicted that the singer would become a world-level star.

Diljit Dosanjh Praises Govinda

Diljit recently spoke about his admiration for Govinda during an Instagram Live session. While talking to his fans, Diljit said, “I love Govinda, man,” and praised the actor’s unique style and comic timing. He also described Govinda as a legendary artiste and said that there had never been another artiste quite like him in Bollywood.

Diljit also remembered Govinda’s popular songs and films and spoke about the happiness his movies brought to audiences. He further shared his wish to work with Govinda in a film, something that has remained unfulfilled so far.

Govinda Recalls His First Meeting With Diljit

Reacting to Diljit’s words, Govinda thanked the Punjabi star for his appreciation. Speaking to ANI, he recalled meeting Diljit many years ago and said that he immediately felt that Diljit had the potential to become a major star.

Govinda said that after seeing Diljit for the first time, he told his secretary Shashi Sinha that Diljit would one day become a “world-level star.” Govinda added that it makes him happy to see how far Diljit has come today. He also wished the singer-actor even more success and greater heights in the future.

Govinda Prepares for His Comeback With ‘Roopa’

While the appreciation from Diljit has brought Govinda back into the spotlight, the veteran actor is also preparing for an important phase in his professional life. Govinda is currently promoting his upcoming film ‘Roopa’, which stars him alongside debut actress Rani Swarnkar, also referred to as Komal Rani Swarnkar in recent reports.

The film marks Govinda’s return to acting after a gap of several years. His last acting film was ‘Rangeela Raja’, released in 2019. He later appeared in the 2022 documentary ‘Naam Tha Kanhaiyalal’.

Govinda Explains His Lalbaugcha Raja Visit

Recently, Govinda visited Mumbai’s famous Lalbaugcha Raja pandal with his ‘Roopa’ co-star Rani Swarnkar. The appearance attracted attention online, leading to discussions about the two actors.

Speaking to ANI, Govinda explained that he had visited Lalbaugcha Raja to seek blessings for his upcoming film. He recalled that he had earlier visited temples with actresses such as Karisma Kapoor and Raveena Tandon before his films and said he wanted to follow a similar tradition as he begins this new phase of his career.

Family and Upcoming Projects

Before the Lalbaugcha visit, Govinda also joined his family for Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations after returning from the US. He participated in the festivities with his children, Tina and Yashvardhan, and offered prayers during Ganpati darshan.

Meanwhile, Govinda’s son Yashvardhan Ahuja is preparing to make his Bollywood debut with ‘Hero Ki Horrorine’. Directed by Sajid Khan, the film is scheduled to release in theatres on January 7, 2027, and also features Nitanshi Goel, Sunita Ahuja, Jamie Lever, Chunky Pandey, Brijendra Kala and Simrat Kaur Randhawa.

With Diljit’s words bringing back memories of Govinda’s long career and ‘Roopa’ marking his return to the big screen, the veteran actor is once again in the spotlight as a new chapter begins in his film journey.
