Ileana D'Cruz Gets Candid About Bollywood, Recognition, and Motherhood!

Ileana D'Cruz, despite gracing Bollywood screens in only a handful of films, has left an indelible mark with her remarkable acting prowess. Recently, she enthralled audiences in the movie 'Do Aur Do Pyaar', sharing the stage with luminaries like Vidya Balan and Prateik Gandhi. In a candid interview, she opened up about her journey in the industry, expressing a poignant sense of not receiving the recognition commensurate with her efforts.

"My endeavors often seem to slip under the radar. In August 2023, Ileana celebrated the birth of her son, prompting a temporary retreat from the limelight. she lamented, 'To be entirely frank, I feel my contributions haven't been duly acknowledged. It's disheartening to perceive that a significant portion of my work has gone unnoticed, and the reasons behind this elude me.'"

Regarding her pivotal role in 'Barfi', she elucidated, "It wasn't a departure from my roots. I embraced the opportunity to work on a Hindi film because 'Barfi's' narrative captivated me. Its unconventional storyline offered a fresh canvas, unlike anything I had previously encountered. Recognizing its significance, I couldn't let the opportunity slip away. However, this choice didn't signify a disengagement from South Indian cinema. It was merely an extraordinary project that demanded attention. Nonetheless, there appeared to be a misconception that my foray into Bollywood marked an abandonment of South Indian cinema." Post-'Barfi', Ileana seamlessly transitioned back into South Indian cinema.

It's worth noting that Ileana embarked on her acting odyssey with the Telugu film 'Devadasu' in 2006. Subsequently, she graced numerous Kannada, Tamil, and Telugu productions until her Bollywood breakthrough in 2012 with Anurag Basu's 'Barfi' alongside Ranbir Kapoor, which propelled her career to new heights. However, following her stint in 'Barfi', she encountered a decline in offers from the film fraternity.
