Rahim's legacy as a phenomenal sportsman and an exceptional mentor marked the "golden age" of football in India during his coaching tenure. His innovative techniques and tactics propelled the national football team to unprecedented success, clinching gold medals in the Asian Games, reaching the semi-finals of the Summer Olympics (a historic feat for an Asian nation), and securing titles like the Colombo Cup.
The journey of Rahim's ascent to becoming India's legendary football coach commenced in 1943 when he assumed the role of secretary for the Hyderabad Football Association. Subsequently, he became the secretary of the Andhra Pradesh Football Association, where he contributed significantly to the game's infrastructure. His coaching career reached new heights when he took over as the coach for the Hyderabad City Police FC in 1950, a position he held until his passing in 1963.
Under Rahim's guidance, the team achieved unprecedented success, winning five consecutive Rovers Cups and reaching the finals of five Durand Cups, securing victory in three of them.
