Raveena Tandon honoured with Padma Shri Award for her contribution of art
President Droupadi Murmu presented the Padma Shri award to Bollywood actress Raveena Tandon and Oscar-winning music composer M.M. Keeravani on Tuesday during the second Civil Investiture Ceremony in Rashtrapati Bhavan.
Several pictures and videos of Raveena Tandon accepting the prize while wearing a gorgeous golden saree have surfaced online.
Both Keeravani and Raveena received the renowned prize for their contributions to the arts. Keeravani won an Academy Award in March for the song Naatu Naatu from S.S. Rajamouli's historical epic RRR.
Earlier this year, the Indian Central Government announced a total of 106 Padma Awards in various categories. The fields included, among others, categories related to the artists, social work, government, public affairs, science and engineering, business and industry, health care, literature and education, sports, and civil service.
Raveena Tandon is a well-known Bollywood actress, producer, and philanthropist. She was born in Bombay, India, on October 26, 1974. As the daughter of a film director (Ravi Tandon), and an actress (Kiran Rathod) in the South Indian film industry, Raveena Tandon comes from a family of actors.
She has campaigned for animal welfare problems and is a supporter of PETA India. She has also been involved with the Nanhi Kali project, which aims to provide disadvantaged girls in India access to education.
In 2004, film distributor Anil Thadani and Raveena got married. The couple has two kids: a son named Ranbir and a girl named Rasha.
