Farhan Akhtar awarded 'Best Actor' at Dada Saheb Phalke Film Festival

Dada Saheb Phalke Film Festival: Farhan Akhtar's performance in Toofaan earned him his first award. At the 12th Dada Saheb Phalke Film Festival, the actor was named Best Actor. Chehre, starring Amitabh Bachchan and Emraan Hashmi, received a Special Jury Mention.

For his performance in Toofan, Farhan was named Best Actor. Last year, the film was distributed on the OTT platform. Mrunal Thakur also appeared in the film, which was directed by Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra.

In the meantime, Jai Bhim took up the award for Best Film. TJ Gnanavel directed the film, which stars Suriya. It was also an over-the-top release that earned a lot of positive feedback. Manikandan, who played Manikandan in the Tamil film, won the award for Best Supporting Actor.

The Dadasaheb Phalke International Film Festival (DPIFF) was formed with the goal of honouring Dadasaheb Phalke's legacy.

Farhan Akhtar thanked the judges for praising him for his performance in Toofaan in a video posted to the film festival's official Twitter page. In the video, he remarked, "Thank you to the jury of the Dadasaheb Phalke Film Festival for this great honour they have bestowed upon me for my performance in Toofaan."

On September 18, 2020, the film was scheduled to hit theatres. However, because to the new coronavirus pandemic, the film's release was postponed, and it was instead distributed directly online on Amazon Prime Video.
