Dilip Kumar news: It is Dilip Kumar's 100th birth anniversary which is being celebrated. On this occasion we revisit what he said about his approach to the 1995 classic 'Devdas'. The late veteran actor Dilip Kumar had done many memorable role in his long career but one role which remained in everyone's mind is the role of 'Devdas' which was based on Sarat Chandra Chattopadhya's novel of the same name.
Further, in his book co-written with Udayatara Nayar, Dilip Kumar 'The Substance and the Shadow' their the actor had spoken about being hesitant to play the heavy-duty part and he stated that it had troubled him initially as he had to experiment in contributing to the character.
Further, he said to play a character who is in deep grief and sorrow and he felt like it would mislead the youth to believe that alcohol is the best way to escape from the pain of losing the loved one. Then somehow he agreed to do the film and the rest is history.
On this special occasion, the film is being re- released in selective cinemas on his 100th birth anniversary which is on December 10th and 11th. This film was under the direction of Bimal Roy, The film had Dilip Kumar in the titular roles and marked the the Bollywood debut of Suchitra Sen who played Paro in the movie. The film was praised for its narrative, direction and not to forget the amazing performances.
It had become one of the iconic films of all times and interestingly Shah Rukh Khan went on to play the same role in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's successful film 'Devdas' in 2002. It was undoubtedly an iconic film which won hearts of every individual who watched the film. It was indeed the magic of the dialogues which are still famous.
