One of the most holiest sites in India, Kedarnath Dham has re-opened it's doors on Tuesday, April 25, 2023. The temple 'Kapat' were officially closed on October 26, 2023. On it's opening day, the temple was decorated magnificently with beautiful refreshing flowers from top to bottom that has added the utter beauty of the pilgrimage.
The devotees were seen ushering towards the temple on it's re-opening day. It's chief 'Pujari'(priest) of the temple has opened the closed (Kapats) followed up by chanting of 'Har Har Mahadev' by the shiv devotees. However, it was the decoration of the temple and it's surrounding what has stolen the masses attention! The entire temple was embedded with 20 quintals of original flowers along with 'Jaapis' on the temple entrance, an Assamese symbol of folk culture deeply connected with state's festival 'Bihu'.
Among the 12 Jyotirlingas, Kedarnath is situated in Rudraprayag district of Uttarakhand and is sincerely dedicated to Lord Shiva. The temple is country's one of the most visited Holy places. The Shiva abode is one of the Char Dham situated in the state as well as the most important among 'Panch Kedar'.
Meanwhile, due to extreme cold and heavy rainfall, the temple remains closed during the winters. Landslides is one among other reasons for it's closure. The portals of the temple are kept shut for six months and its opening date relies upon the priest of the Omkareshwar Temple in Ukhimath through Hindu Panchang calculations followed up by an announcement made on Maha Shivratri every year.
