Mirabai Chanu: India wins its first medal in Tokyo Olympics 2020

Mirabai Chanu, a weightlifter from Manipur, has the potential to end India's 17-year wait. Chanu will compete in the 49 kg category against the top weightlifters in the world.

At the Tokyo Olympics, Mirabai Chanu is also seeking atonement. Mirabai had gone to her first Olympic Games in Rio as one of India's top prospects five years ago, but she had a disappointing performance.

With world championships gold in 2017 and Commonwealth Games gold in 2018, the lone Indian weightlifter in Tokyo surged back to form. After setting the world record, she heads to Tokyo Games.

Today, she brought the first Silver Medal in Weightlifting. She lifted 116 kgs but couldn't win the Gold medal. However, she won the first Silver medal in Tokyo Olympics 2020.
