'Mrs. Undercover': Radhika Apte returns to rule the OTT platform in a new avatar of 'Durga'
One of the most versatile actresses in Bollywood without a doubt is Radhika Apte, who has repeatedly shown us how fascinating she can be by giving unconventional performances. The trailer for the actress' forthcoming spy film, "Mrs. Undercover," has now been out.
The film, which is billed as a spy comedy, tells the tale of Durga (Radhika Apte), a typical Indian housewife who is a special undercover agent called back to duty after a 10-year absence. Shaheb Chattopadhyay, Roshni Bhattacharya, Indrashish Roy, Angana Roy, Laboni Sarkar, and Biswajeet Chakraborty round up the rest of the cast, with Amrita Chattopadhyay making a surprise appearance.
The story's lead character is a classic homemaker with a phenomenal history. She is enlisted by her former employers, the Special Force, to assist in the search for the mysterious serial killer, Common Man, who has been killing strong, independent women.
She posted the trailer to Instagram with the caption, "Brace yourself for the year’s most unusual story of an uncommon housewife! But she is #NotJustAHousewife #MrsUndercover premieres 14 April on #ZEE5." Radhika's transformation from an ordinary housewife to a fierce undercover agent is jaw-dropping.
Apte claimed that she fell in love with the "Mrs. Undercover" narrative right away since it humorously addresses ingrained patriarchal ideas about housewives.
"I fell in love with my character, Durga, who is awkward, humorous, compassionate, and real. Her quest to recognise her own power is the subject of this movie. Every family has a Durga, a woman who silently goes about her work but is not given credit for it because she is viewed as "simply" a housewife.
Nonetheless, the actor stated in a statement, "This film masterfully combats that mentality which prevails in our patriarchal culture under the pretext of humour.
In the Vasan Bala-directed Netflix film Monica, O My Sweetheart, Radhika Apte most recently appeared as an investigator. She has appeared in the 2022 motion picture Vikram Vedha as well as Forensic on ZEE5.
On April 14, 2023, Zee5 will air the movie "Mrs. Undercover," starring Radhika Apte.
