Rajkummar Rao-Bhumi Pednekar starrer 'Badhai Do' gets a new release date; details inside

'Badhaai Do,' starring Rajkummar Rao and Bhumi Pednekar, has a new release date. The film, which was originally scheduled to be released on Republic Day weekend in 2022, will now be released on February 4, 2022.

Bhumi announced the new release date on her Instagram account. She penned, "Badhaai Do will now release in theatres on February 4, 2022! ❤

We cannot wait for you to witness this family entertainer on the big screen. See you at the movies! ?"

The movie which is also a sequel for the hit 'Badhai Ho' is being helmed by Harshavardhan Kulkarni and the project is being bankrolled by Junglee Pictures.

Whereas the film is written by Akshat Ghildial and Suman Adhikary.

It should also be noted that 'Badhai Do' also marks the first ever collaboration of Bhumi Pednekar and Rajkummar Rao on the silver screens. Apart for sharing the screen together both of them will be seen playing intriguing characters they have never played before.

Rajkummar Rao plays Shardul, a Delhi cop, in Badhaai Do who is the only male police officer in a Mahila Thana.

Bhumi Pednekar, on the other hand, plays Sumi, a physical education teacher. The story and characters in the film will differ from those in the 2018 film.

The film also features an ensemble cast that includes Seema Pahwa, Sheeba Chadha, Lovleen Mishra, Nitish Pandey, Shashi Bhushan, and others.

'Badhaai Do' is a sequel to the superhit film 'Badhaai Ho,' which starred Ayushmann Khurrana, Sanya Malhotra, Neena Gupta, Gajraj Rao, and late actor Surekha Sikri.

While the story and characters in 'Badhaai Do' differ from those in 'Badhaai Ho,' there is a common theme in that both are family-oriented films that will appeal to the audience.

'Badhaai Ho,' released in 2018, was one of the most successful films, earning a National Award for Best Film in 2019 for its experimental plot and effective yet convincing performances.
