The Ministry of External Affairs announced today that an Indian student was killed in Russian shelling in Kharkiv this morning. Naveen, a student from Haveri, Karnataka, was recognized as the pupil.

Harsh Vardhan Shringla, India's foreign secretary, summoned the Russian and Ukrainian embassies to "reiterate India's desire for urgent safe passage for Indian people." According to insiders, Russia and Ukraine must respond quickly to the necessity for safe passage.

The Russian military assault caused substantial damage in Kharkiv, Ukraine's second-largest city, according to videos. The city's largest government building was blown up in one video.
