Sad news! 18-year-old Table Tennis player Vishwa Deenadayalan dies in road accident

Who is Vishwa Deenadayalan? In a tragic incident, an 18-year-old table tennis player from Tamil Nadu, Vishwa Deenadayalan, died in a tragic road accident. He was on his way to Shillong from Guwahati.

Reportedly, he was travelling via taxi with three teammates from Guwahati to Shillong for the 83rd Senior National and Inter-State Table Tennis Championships on Sunday, the Table Tennis Federation of India (TTFI) said in a statement. The matches were slated to be held on Monday.

The three others have been identified as Ramesh Santosh Kumar, Abinash Prasannaji Srinivasan, and Kishore Kumar. They suffered severe injuries but were declared stable by the doctors.

TTFI, in its press release, stated that "A 12-wheel trailer, coming from the opposite direction, ploughed through the road divider and hit the taxi at Shangbangla, just after the Umliy check post, and plunged into the gorge."

While the taxi driver died on the spot in road accident, Vishwa Deenadayalan was taken to hospital and declared brought dead by the North Eastern Indira Gandhi Regional Institute of Health and Medical Sciences.

Who is Vishwa Deenadayalan?

Vishwa was a promising player with several national ranking titles and international medals in his bucket. He was all set to represent India at the WTT Youth Contender at Linz, Austria, from April 27. Vishwa was associated to Krishnaswamy TT Club in Anna Nagar.

He was being trained by Ramnath Prasad and Jai Prabhu Ram. The coaches said that he was a highly-talented boy with a lot of promise.

Meanwhile, Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma also extended condolences on his death.

"Saddened to learn that Tamil Nadu paddler, Deenadayalan Vishwa passed away after an accident in Ri Bhoi District while on his way to Shillong to participate in the 83rd Senior National Table Tennis Championship in our State," he tweeted.
