Sidharth Malhotra and Kiara Advani, the lead actors of Shereshaah, released the trailer of the film.
“Captain Vikram Batra reporting on duty!” Sidharth wrote with the Shershaah trailer. “The wait is finally over, and I am honored to present you the legendary story of our Kargil War Hero” he added.
The voice-over of Sidharth Malhotra, who plays Vikram Batra in the film, opens the Shershaah trailer. He talks about how an army man's life is the most respectable, and that they have no religion other than their passion for their country.
We soon meet Sidharth, who is clad in an army uniform, and we see glimpses of gorgeous Kargil, even as Sidharth and other characters convey the risk the location carries. Then we get straight into the Kargil War, which took place between May and July 1999 between India and Pakistan as troops and terrorists from across the border entered into India.
Sidharth as Vikram Batra, a man willing to die for India, strikes a chord. We also get a glimpse of Vikram's love storyline in which Dimple Cheema is played by Kiara Advani. Vikram's girlfriend, Dimple, was his strength and after his death, she did not marry and continued to live as his widow.
Captain Batra was killed by enemy fire while attempting to save a fellow officer, and Shershaah is based on his life. On July 7, 1999, Vikram passed away. The Vishnu Varadhan directed film is an attempt to honor the soldier's heroic spirit and important sacrifice during the Kargil War of 1999.
