While talking to PTC Punjabi, the makers were asked if the film was based on a a real life incident. To this, the makers had said that it was not entirely created on just one incident.
The makers said that they came across two-three stories related to the rape incidents and noted a pattern that was similar in all the stories they came across. Thus, they followed the pattern while writing the story. Director Manish Mundra said that 'Siya' isn’t just a film but it is a movement.
The film is a voice that resonates with victims who went through unimaginable emotional, physical, and mental pain.
