Jackie Shroff takes help from Delhi High Court to restrain using his voice and name!

Jackie Shroff is one of the most accomplished actor in the Bollywood industry who has served his starry parts in the industry over his long career. With an impeccable personality like his, the star's voice and name are often times used, be it on social media or by Artificial intelligence. Intrigued by the same, Bollywood's veteran actor, Jackie Shroff on Tuesday reached the Delhi High Court to raise his concern for restraining the use of his voice and name by the earlier mentioned platforms as well as the GIF-making platforms, without having his consent.

Jackie Shroff reaches Delhi HC for protecting personality rights 

Yes, you heard it correctly! As per a recent industry report, as Justice Sanjeev Narula has heard the matter from Shroff's end and thus summoned the defendants on Tuesday, 14th May 2024. Following the hearing, the court reassured the star that it would hear the interim on May 15, 2024. To understand it more clearly, the actor has filed a petition in Delhi court for seeking protection for his name and nickname, 'Bhidu' that often time come acrosses on various platforms. According to Shroff's personal lawyer Pravin Anand, his images and voice have been continuously used in various memes, mostly that are rather offensive. 

Jackie Shroff's further request to the court 

In the further revelation by the insider, Shroff has pleaded the protection for Jackie Shroff, Jackie, Jaggu Dada as well as Bhidu and referred the court that these syllables should not be used by any platform or medium without his primary authorisation. His step on the court grounds doesn't end here, as he has requested the Department of Technology and the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MEITY) to take down such websites and links that have unlawfully violated his personal rights labeling his personality. 

Meanwhile, it is not the first time a Bollywood actor has moved to the HC for protecting personality rights as actors like Amitabh Bachchan and Anil Kapoor has also graced the grounds for the same. In fact, Tezaab actor, Anil Kapoor has won the case this January according to which, his name, voice, image, likeness, speaking manner, gestures, as well as his famous catchphrase 'jhakaas' are now protected by the law.
