In a historic achievement for India, shooters Manu Bhaker and Sarabjot Singh clinched the bronze medal in the 10m Air Pistol Mixed Team event at the Paris Olympics. Their remarkable performance has captured national pride and received widespread acclaim from prominent figures.
Actor Anil Kapoor expressed his excitement and congratulations through his Instagram story. He re-shared the Indian Olympic Association's post and wrote, "Another win for India!! Congratulations!!" Kapoor's enthusiasm reflects the nation's celebration of this significant accomplishment.
Manu Bhaker made history on Tuesday by becoming the first Indian to win two medals in the same Olympics. Earlier in the competition, Bhaker had already secured a bronze in the women's individual 10m Air Pistol event. Her partnership with Sarabjot Singh added another medal to India’s tally, with a bronze in the mixed team event.
President Droupadi Murmu praised Bhaker and Singh for their achievement. In a post on X, she said, "Congratulations to Manu Bhaker and Sarabjot Singh for winning a bronze medal for India in the mixed team 10 metre air pistol event for shooting! Manu Bhaker has created history, becoming the first woman shooter from India to win two medals in the same Olympic Games. She has done us immensely proud. In the bronze medal play-off match, Bhaker and Singh triumphed over South Korea's Lee Wonho and Oh Ye Jin with a score of 16-10. This victory increased India’s medal tally to two in the Paris Olympics. The National Rifle Association of India (NRAI) celebrated the success, highlighting it as "India wins bronze in the mixed team 10m air pistol as @realmanubhaker and @Sarabjotsingh30 beat Korea's Oh Ye Jin & Lee Won Ho 16-10 in the bronze match. Earlier in the competition, Bhaker and Singh had achieved a total of 580-20x points, securing third place in the event. Their consistent performance and dedication have made a significant impact on India's Olympic journey.
