'Laapataa Ladies' Surpasses 'Animal' on OTT

The news of Laapataa Ladies outperforming Animal quickly spread among viewers and on social media platforms. The film, produced by Aamir Khan, has become particularly popular in the UK, with viewers praising its engaging storyline. One user commented, “It’s become very popular in the UK. About Laapataa Ladies

Starring Sparsh Shrivastava, Pratibha Ranta, Nitanshi Goel, and Ravi Kishan in lead roles, Laapataa Ladies follows the intriguing story of two brides who mysteriously disappear during a train journey, leading their husbands on a quest to find the real bride amidst a series of twists and turns.

In contrast, Animal, directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga, faced backlash for its controversial take on gender roles. Despite the criticism, the film performed well at the box office, earning Rs 918 crore globally.

Kiran Rao and Sandeep Reddy Vanga

The success of Laapataa Ladies also highlights a previous discussion between directors Kiran Rao and Sandeep Reddy Vanga regarding misogyny in movies. Rao clarified in an interview, stating, "I haven’t commented on Mr. Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s films because I have not seen them. I have often spoken on misogyny and the representation of women on screen, and I have talked about it on various platforms and at various times. But I have never taken the name of any film because it is not really about the specific films, it is about the issues."
