Kohinoor diamond history news: Ever since the death of the longest-serving monarch of the UK, Queen Elizabeth-II, there have been several queries regarding what will happen to the Kohinoor diamond crown now. Some are even looking for the Kohinoor diamond's price and want to know who will wear the Kohinoor now.

After a seven-decade-long reign of Queen Elizabeth II, the precious Kohinoor diamond studded crown will now pass on to the next in line. But the question is: Who will wear the Kohinoor now?

Some say that the Kohinoor-studded crown will now go to the next monarch i.e. King Charles III. However, as per the history of the Kohinoor, the diamond will go to the next Queen. In this case, it will go to Camilla Parker Bowles, the Queen Consort.

Earlier this year, the Queen had announced that Camilla Parker Bowles would be the Queen Consort when Charles will take over the reins of monarchy in England.

Now with the Queen Elizabeth's death, in all likelihood, Camilla will be donning the Kohinoor diamond crown.

Kohinoor diamond history news:

Kohinoor which is touted as the most precious diamond in the World is weighted around 105.6 carats. It was found in Guntur of India's Andhra Pradesh in the 14th century during the reign of the Kaaktiya Dynasty.

It was used as an eye of the deity in a temple in Warangal. Later, Malik Kafoor (Alauddin Khilji's General) robbed it. It was then passed on to several rulers of the Mughal Empire. It was later possessed by Sikh Maharaja Ranjit Singh in Lahore after which he came to Punjab.

The diamond was then given to Queen Victoria in 1849 after the annexation of Punjab during the reign of Maharaja Ranjit Singh's son Dileep Singh.

Kohinoor diamond price

As of now, the value of the Kohinoor diamond was not known. Since it is part of the Crown Jewels, the whole value of the Crown Jewels is somewhat between $10 and $12 billion.
