Akshay Kumar's Prithviraj Title Changed: Akshay Kumar's much-awaited period drama 'Prithiviraj's title has been changed to 'Samrat Prithviraj' by the makers. The decision was made by the makers ahead of the film's release on June 3. The film stars Akshay Kumar, Manushi Chillar, Sonu Sood, and Sanjay Dutt in key roles.
Yash Raj Films officially announced and changed the title of the film, from to 'Prithviraj' to 'Samrat Prithviraj' in regard to the PIL filed by Shree Rajput Karni Sena.
Following multiple discussions, YRF accepted the Rajput community's concerns and demands, and on May 27, decided to alter the title of the film from Prithviraj to 'Samrat Prithviraj'.
The official statement read, "As per the multiple rounds of discussions between us, and to peacefully and amicably resolve the raised grievance, we will change the title of the Film to “Samrat Prithviraj"."
"We are highly appreciative of the mutual agreement reached between us that you have no further objections with regards to our Film and that all other points raised by you earlier are no longer a point of contention between us," the statement reads.
"We thank Shri Rajput Karni Sena and its members for understanding our good intentions pertaining to the depiction of the great warrior in the Film. We are grateful to have your complete support, locally and globally, for the release of the Film and for the assurances provided in your Letter," the statement added.
For the unversed, the president of the Karni Sena Youth Wing had urged Prithviraj's film producers to change the name in 2021. Eventually, for the same reason, a massive protest took place in Chandigarh.
YRF also expressed gratitude to Karni Sena for recognising their 'positive intentions,' and for the organization's unwavering support for the film's distribution.
The movie Samrat Prithviraj, directed by Chandraprakash Dwivedi, stars Akshay Kumar as king Prithviraj Chauhan of the Chauhan dynasty and is based on the First Battle of Tarain, in which he battled Muhammad Ghori of the Ghurid dynasty.
