Akshay Kumar’s ‘Laxmii’ Tanks, Critics Call The Film Bizarre

Akshay Kumar’s recently released film ‘Laxmii’, previously called ‘Laxmmi Bomb’ has finally released after a long delay, and going by the reviews of the film it has tanked really bad.

Somewhere deep down, the audience was eagerly waiting for this film to release as the critics and the movie lovers had high hopes from Akshay as well as the makers of this film, because of its plotline.

However, critics have raised a red flag for this film and call it a bizarre film, which has no sense, and gives bare minimum respect to the transgenders.

Going by the reviews, what makes or breaks a comedy are its one-liners, the actors’ timing and the relevance of the jokes and where they land. Unfortunately, Akshay Kumar-Kiara Advani starrer ’Laxmii’ has none.

Akshay Kumar’s quite the charmer as a staunch atheist and then a man grappling with demonic possession but then again, he couldn’t do justice to the flaky storyline.

'Laxmii', a remake by writer-director Raghava Lawrence of his own 2011 Tamil hit Muni 2: Kanchana, is a horror-comedy that is more laughable than funny, more horrid than horrific. It is less a movie than an excruciating ordeal devoid of any semblance of a bright spot.

As most of the critics said, watch it on your own risk.

The film ‘Laxmii’ is available on Hotstar.
