There was a time when Ghazal Industry was dominated by Pakistani Ghazal singers but course changed as Jagmohan Singh Dhiman aka Jagjit Singh entered the arena and rest, as they say is history. With his distinctive melodious voice, Jagjit Singh is credited for the revival and popularity of ghazal by choosing poetry that was relevant to the masses and composing them in a way that laid more emphasis on the meaning of words and melody evoked by them. On the occasion of his 77th birth anniversary, Jagjit Singh is as famous today as he was during his days.
