‘Kurup’ went on to become a big hit at the box office since its release in November featuring Dulquer Salmaan. The film became a super hit film and now the film lead Dulquer Salmaan has come out and spoken about the sequel of the film. Because the first part has received a good response everyone is now waiting for the second part of it.
Salmaan recently shared a video hinting that the second part of Kurup is in process. On Wednesday the film’s release on the OTT Platform Netlflix was announced, with the sequel’s announcement.
The video hints towards the search of the wanted criminal Kurup, who has been now named Alexander which will continue. It’s been a month since the film was released and since then it has been receiving mixed responses from the audience. In terms of box office collection, the film has done really well despite mixed responses by the critics.
The film earned Rs 50 crores in just three days of its release giving Dulquer the best opener of his career. The film Kurup is based on the story of real-life criminal Sukumara Kurup, for being negligent of the law for more than four decades.
The adaptation of the crime on the big screen has gone on to make Dulquer an urban legend in Kerala. Playing the criminal mastermind, Kurup fakes his own death to fight his financial problems with the insurance money received post his death.
Manon Kumar R, The film critic has given this film 2.5 stars saying, “It is criminal that the filmmakers have tucked away a compelling idea about a larger-than-life wicked phantom in the footnote of the movie. Towards the end, Kurup takes the shape of an urban mythical character. It is baffling that the filmmakers failed to recognize and explore such a goldmine of material, instead of half-heartedly re-telling the information about Kurup and his crime that is readily available to the public.”
Kurup is directed by Srinath Rajendran, with Dulquer Salman as it main lead along with other stars including Indrajith Sukumaran, Shine Tom Chacko, Sunny Wayne, Sobhita Dhulipala, and Bharath Niwas.
