Amid controversy over the ‘beard-moustache’ remark, another FIR has been registered against the comedian Bharti Singh. Earlier, an FIR was registered in Amritsar and now it has been registered in Jalandhar’s Adampur.
Although comedian Bharti Singh had issued a public apology for hurting the sentiments of the Sikh community, an FIR was registered against her over her video in which she had cracked a joke on men with beards.
In Jalandhar’s Admapur, an FIR has been registered under Section 295-A (deliberate and malicious acts, intended to outrage religious feelings) of the Indian Penal Code.
The complaint has been filed by Jassi Bhallan, President of Guru Ravidas Tiger Force, Punjab.
Earlier on Monday night, an FIR was registered in Punjab's Amritsar on the basis of the complaint filed by the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGOC) alleging that she had hurt the sentiments of Sikhs.
Bharti Singh, in the viral video, said that “several people are having beard and moustache; you drink milk and put some of the beards in your mouth, it will taste like Seviyaan [dessert]."
She also said that men have lice in their beards. Soon after the video went viral on social media, a lot of people from Punjab criticised Bharti Singh for disrespecting the beard that Sikh men maintain as part of their religious belief.
Similarly, there were several protests in Amritsar and Jalandhar against Bharti Singh.
