In connection with a case involving the shooting of a music video in the historic Wazir Khan mosque, a judicial magistrate in Lahore has issued arrest warrants for actress Saba Qamar and singer Bilal Saeed.
According to reports, the warrants were issued for the pair due to their failure to appear in court.
Last year, in August 2020, the two came under fire after it was revealed that they had shot footage inside the historic mosque while working on a music video for the song "Qubool hai."
A sessions court ordered the Akbari Gate police station house officer to proceed in compliance with the law on an application pursuing the registration of a case against the two and others for filming the video.
Following that, the Akbari Gate police station filed a first information report (FIR) against the two under Section 295 of the Pakistan Penal Code. The section addresses the crime of injuring or defiling a place of worship with the intent to offend any religion.
The Baari singer also issued a lengthy apology on Instagram, stating that he and Qamar "realise what has happened over the past few days has deeply hurt sentiments."
Qamar, on the other hand, responded to the criticism with a series of tweets, claiming that the video was a "prologue to the music video featuring a Nikkah scene."
