Bathinda's Shreya makes India proud, wins Gold Medal in Deaflympics 2022 in Brazil

India at Deaf Olympics 2022: The nation wants to know who is Shreya? The woman from Bathinda has won a gold medal for India in Badminton at Deaflympics 2022, held in Brazil.

Bathinda's Shreya is the only disabled player from Punjab, who made it to the Indian team. Shreya left for Brazil on April 27 for Deaf Olympics 2022, also known as Deaflympics, where she participated in the matches that were held from May 2 to 4.

In the finals, India won the Gold medal as Shreya defeated Japan's shuttler.

Shreya is a disabled Badminton player who represented the country at Deaf Olympics 2022 and made her parents as well as the country proud.

She hails from Punjab's Bathinda. Her father's name is Davinder Singla while her mother's name is Neelam Singla. Shreya has been unable to hear since her childhood but she was very fond of Badminton from the beginning. She started playing the sport at the age of 7.

Keeping in mind her passion for Badminton, Shreya's parents made decided to give coaching to her daughter Deepak Suryavanshi trained her.

Shreya’s father is working in an SBI Bank while her mother Neelam Singla is a school teacher. Shreya will reportedly land at Delhi airport on May 14, 2022.

Deaflympics 2022 was held in Caxias Do Sul, Brazil. It will conclude on May 15, 2022. As many as 72 nations participated in the tournament with over 2267 athletes this year.
