Dharmendra Gets Candid: 'No Awkwardness' in Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani's Unexpected Kissing Scene

The highly anticipated film, Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani, directed by Karan Johar, has finally hit the silver screens, and it has been creating quite a buzz among Bollywood enthusiasts. Starring the charismatic duo of Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt in the lead roles, this romantic drama marks Karan Johar's much-awaited comeback as a director after seven years.

The movie explores a heartwarming tale of love blossoming between two individuals from different cultural backgrounds who decide to swap families for three months before embarking on their journey to matrimony.

While the on-screen chemistry between Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt has been a major talking point, what truly caught the audience by surprise was a heartfelt lip-lock sequence featuring veteran actors Dharmendra and Shabana Azmi. In a brief scene where the star-crossed lovers reunite after years of separation, Dharmendra serenades Shabana Azmi with the classic retro song "Abhi Na Jao Chhod Kar," sealing their reunion with a passionate kiss.

In a recent interview with a renowned media house, Dharmendra opened up about the much-discussed kissing scene. He candidly shared, "I am hearing that Shabana and I have surprised the audience with the kissing scene, and at the same time, they have even applauded it. I think people weren’t expecting it, and it came very suddenly, which is why it created an impact. The last time I did a kissing scene was in Life In A Metro with Nafisa Ali, and at that time too, people had appreciated it."

The legendary actor further added, "When Karan narrated the scene to us, I did not get excited (laughs). We understood its significance, and I realized that it was something the film required and wasn't forcefully put in, so I said I will do it. Also, I believe there is no age for romance. Age is just a number, and two people, irrespective of age, will show their love for each other by kissing. Shabana and I both did not feel any kind of awkwardness while doing it as it was very aesthetically shot."

Speaking about the film as a whole, Dharmendra expressed his admiration for the director and the rest of the cast, stating, "I always feel that I could have done better (laughs). But Karan has made a fantastic film, and he is such a good director. It was my first collaboration with him, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. All the actors have performed really well. Ranveer is terrific, and Alia is such a natural actor. Shabana is great in the film, and so is Jaya, who I always refer to as my Guddi. The film has been released, and I hope people go and watch it in theaters and continue to shower their love."

Meanwhile, Dharmendra is gearing up for another exciting project, collaborating once again with the talented director Shriram Raghvan for the biopic Ekkis, which pays tribute to a martyred soldier. The movie will also feature Agastya Nanda, the grandson of the legendary Amitabh Bachchan.

As Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani continues to captivate audiences with its heartwarming tale of love and cultural exchange, it has undeniably proven to be a testament to Karan Johar's directorial prowess and the mesmerizing performances delivered by the lead pair, Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt. The film promises to leave a lasting impression on viewers' hearts and remind us all that age is truly no bar when it comes to expressing love. So, don't miss the chance to experience this heartfelt saga on the big screen and revel in the magic of romance and emotions.
