Case filed against Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan, Ranveer Singh, and Ajay Devgn: For the past few weeks, several Bollywood celebrities have been receiving flak for doing ads promoting tobacco-based products or gutka. Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan, Akshay Kumar, and Ajay Devgan were trolled for such advertisements on tobacco-based products.

Notably, Amitabh Bachchan had withdrawn himself from a pan masala ad and likewise, Akshay Kumar had also stepped down as the brand ambassador of a tobacco company.

However, now some of these actors have landed in legal trouble now as a case, under Sections 467, 468, 439, and 120B of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), has been filed by a Muzaffarpur-based activist Tamanna Hashmi.

The case has been filed against Bollywood actors Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan, Ranveer Singh, and Ajay Devgn for promoting gutka in ads.

According to the complaint, these Bollywood stars have misused their popularity to endorse tobacco products. As per Times Now, the court allowed the case filed against the actors. The case is scheduled for hearing on May 27, 2022.

At the time of filing this story, the actors had not reacted to the matter or issued any official statement. Last month, Akshay Kumar signed a deal with a pan masala brand. However, he stepped down following heavy criticism online.

Ajay Devgn, who had been associated with the brand, defended himself and said, "When you do something, you also see how harmful it would be. Some are harmful and some are not. I was doing elaichi."
