100-Crore Offer Declined: Govinda's Extended Hiatus, The Bollywood Star's Selective Approach to Projects
Govinda, a prominent figure in Bollywood, stands among the most significant superstars in Hindi cinema. His filmography boasts a string of blockbusters, including titles like 'Raja Babu,' 'Coolie No. 1,' 'Hero No. 1,' 'Dulhe Raja,' 'Bade Miyan Chote Miyan,' and 'Partner.' However, Govinda has been absent from the film industry for an extended period. In a recent interaction with the media, he unveiled the reasons for his extended break, disclosing that he declined a 100-crore project just last year.
During a conversation with the media on Ganesh Chaturthi, Govinda disclosed that he now dedicates significant time to carefully selecting his projects. He expressed, "I don't readily accept any work. But for those who believe I'm not getting offers, I can assure them it's by the blessings of Bappa. Last year, I declined a 100-crore project."
He candidly admitted, "I even resorted to self-reproach. I stood before the mirror and gave myself a wake-up call, as I hadn't committed to any new projects. Although tempting offers with substantial financial rewards came my way, I refused to settle for ordinary roles. My aspiration was to engage in work that transcended the ordinary."
In a recent revelation, Ameesha Patel shared that for 'Gadar 2,' director Mamta Kulkarni had envisioned Sakina and Govinda for the roles of Tara Singh. She elaborated, saying, "Contrary to popular belief, it wasn't Mr. Anil Sharma who selected me for the role of Sakina; he always had Sunny Deol in mind for 'Gadar.' My inclusion in 'Gadar: Ek Prem Katha' was orchestrated by Nitin Keni, and Anil Sharma was more inclined towards Mamta Kulkarni. They had their sights set on Govinda to portray Tara Singh, but I advocated for Sunny to take on that role."
