Vidhu Vinod Chopra made headlinse with his 2023 released biopic drama, 12th fail! The one of a kind movie turned out to be called as one of the best movies helmed in Indian cinema and made everyone amazed by becoming the highest rated Hindi film of all time and we all know how? Starring Vikrant Massey in the leading role, the movie featured a new face oppsoite to him, Medha Shankar who has impressed everyone with her unbinding caliber of acting. Speaking in a nutshell, both Vikrant Massey and Medha Shankar has single handely taken the movie to a whole other level of extraness with their powerfull screen presence. But Medha had seen her own part of struggles before getting signed up as Chopra's female lead, which she has discussed unabashedly with a media forum recently. Making quite a stir within the industry, Medha Shankar became an overnight sensation with her impeccable part played in the biopic drama. But did you know, that Miss Shankar had only Rs. 257 in hands when she was offered the role? Yes, you heard it correct! Made the revelation by herself, the actress surelely accepted her part of struggles within the industry and it is surely a success story to weave in tales as the gilr who had an access of just Rs. 257 in her hands, has charged Rs. 20 lakh for the record breaking film. Speaking further about the life changing opportunity, she said, "I started my cinematic journey as an actress in Mumbai in 2018. In 2022, I first auditioned for a movie at a casting agency. Then I did the screen test with Vidhu Vinod Chopra sir and the whole team, and then I finally got the project."
Meanwhile, released back in 2023, 12th Fail has surely turned the fates of both the actors upside down as Medha became a fresh starry affair of Bollywood and Vikrant Massey didn't remain underrated anymore, as he was praised and accoladed with acclamations by some of the greatest fames of cinema. For the unversed, the movie was written, directed and produced by Vidhu Vinod Chopra that is based on Anurag Pathak’s 2019 nonfiction book under the same name and it was based on the real life story of real hustler couple, IPS Officer Manoj Kumar Sharma and IRS Officer Shraddha Joshi. Meanwhile, made with a small budget of Rs. 20 crore, the film also stars Anant V Joshi, Anshumaan Pushkar and Priyanshu Chatterjee in the pivotal roles.
